The McFarland School District unanimously adopted a School District Sustainability Resolution in May 2022. The resolution commits that district administrators will work with the McFarland High School Student Eco Club to set annual goals associated with energy use and landfill waste. The Resolution also commits to ongoing efforts around energy savings, waste reduction and climate education. The District also pursued grant funding for comprehensive energy planning in 2021-2022. While the proposal was not funded, the District’s proposal includes information about energy use intensity and various school facilities as well as equity considerations and that information will be useful as the Distrct sets annual energy and waste goals.
The Eco Club at the McFarland High School focuses on educating students and staff about environmental issues. The Eco Club has advocated for a district commitment to clean energy and reduced waste.
